Cast copper alloy weight, rectangular in plan and profile and section with a faint central circular stamp of a rose and crown and another rectangular stamp with a number ending in 7 on the upper face. The stamps would suggest a coin weight but the shape and size of the weight suggest that it may be an apothecary weight instead. If it is a coin weight, then it would have come from the Low Countries (Paul Withers pers comm). It weighs 26 g which almost equates to one ounce averdupois.

A copper-alloy Apothecary weight of probable post-medieval date. For similar examples, see Biggs, 1994, pp. 7. The weight is sub-rectangular in plan, having rounded corners, and is of thin section. Both sides bear stamped merchant's marks. On one side are three letters (possibly 'IOS') within an oval border; below this is a monogram containing the letters 'SA'. On the other side is a number '8' above a monogram containing 'RX' and at the bottom is what appears to be a number, possibly (?the date) '1698'. The object measures 21.3mm high, 18.6m wide and 1.7mm thick. The weight is 4.32g.

Stamped copper alloy trade weight of Charles I (1625-1649) or Charles II (1660-1685). The weight is circular in plan and flat in section. The upper surface has a lipped rim, within which is a ring of turned parallel lines, from the die. The upper face of the weight is recessed and stamped with three motifs around a central rosette. At the 5 o’clock position there is an ewer, the Founders Company of London mark, which shows they have verified this weight. At the 11 o’clock position there is the royal cipher, a ‘C’ which is surmounted by a crown. The ‘C’ represents Charles I …

Trade weight of Charles I or II. The object is a bronze disc with a raised edge. At the twelve o'clock position on the obverse is a 'London dagger' with C topped by a crown to the left and an A (avoirdupois) to the right. One further design at the six o'clock position is hard to distinguish but is probably an ewer.

Small cast copper alloy weight, weighing approximately 1/4oz. Stamps include an 'R' and a crown, with 'II' possibly representing Charles II. A fourth stamp looks like a small 'a' or 'd'. The weight does appear to have been overstamped at a later date. It is post-medieval in date.

A stamped lead weight from the post-medieval period. This weight is flat with a raised rim around the edge of the weight. The weight weighs 3.8oz. The obverse of the weight (the side with the raised rim) has been stamped with four, what appear to be numbers, which could perhaps read 1021. The reverse is blank. A similar example to this lead weight can be seen in Biggs and Withers, 2000, pp54, Fig. 5.
