Two-piece thimble made from sheet copper alloy. It is impressed with small circular indentations on the upper half of the thimble, above a wide band which is delineated by two engraved lines, one 3 mm below the indentations and the other 8 mm below. Within these lines is a very faint floral pattern running around the circumference of the thimble. In one section, there are the letters D L beneath the pattern, which could be the ‘cartouche’ with the owner’s initials within. Any other lettering is illegible. Stamped sheet closed type with punched dots over entire, slightly flared, body, decorative open-work top which has been divided into 3 with cross-cuts, each third is decorated with a single trefoil. There are 2 small splits in the metal from the rim upwards. This is almost exactly the same as one in Mills N page 34 except that this one has 3 divisions on the top and 3 trefoils.
