Post-medieval lead alloy seal measuring 45.25mm in length, 41.24mm in width, 5.24mm in thickness and 38.8g in weight. Pewter oval seal with writing around the outer edge with "NEW_CASTLE" and "F_TTON" still being legible. One end of the seal is bent at an 45 degrees angle with corresponding breakage and lines on the opposite side. There are two holes roughly in the center of each surface of the seal which seem to have been made intentionally but do not go all the way through the coin. Object type: PLAQUE
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: County Durham
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A fragment of a lead plaque with three sets of stamped initials of post-Medieval date. The plaque was probably originally a rectangular plate, though is now missing approximately 25% of the plate, including two corners. Three sets of the same initials are stamped in three of the four quarters of the plate: WS, or possibly SM. Two of the stamps read the same (eg WS), while the third stamp is a mirror (eg reading SM). The style of lettering makes a 17th or 18th century date feasible. It is unknown what the purpose of the object was.

Trade weight of Charles I or II. The object is a bronze disc with a raised edge. At the twelve o'clock position on the obverse is a 'London dagger' with C topped by a crown to the left and an A (avoirdupois) to the right. One further design at the six o'clock position is hard to distinguish but is probably an ewer.
