Very thin copper alloy mount depicting the whiskered, squinting face of a lion. The copper sheet is thin enough to have worn through on the nose of the lion. The face has most likely been formed through stamping; each feature is in distinct relief from the next. The reverse shows signs of a lead alloy solder. The edges of the mount have been torn and damaged.

A copper alloy token from the late 1660s. A lot of these tokens were issued by private merchants across the country in the late 1660s, presumably reflecting a shortage of official small change. This one may have been issued by merchant in Otley (though the inscription is a little uncertain), whose name probably begins John Pu... There is a grocer from Otley named John Pullen who jointly issued tokens with Christopher Ward. This could be one he issued alone. The arms may also support this as the grocers' arms have a chevron with 3 triple devices.
