A lead seal of Roman date. Roger Tomlin (pers. comm.) points out that the majority of rectangular seals are legionary in origin (see Tomlin, Frere and Roxan eds. 1990, p. 93-100); however, the legend on this piece (see below) does not have an obvious military connection and must therefore be classified as 'miscellaneous'.
The seal consists of a sub-rectangular block which appears to have been cut from a strip. It is unclear as to how the seal would have operated, as it lacks a hole for the chord to pass through. The legend has been deeply stamped into the surface, the letters themse…

A clip or clamp made from thin sheet metal, now rather corroded. The object comprises a rounded cylindrical clip with a series of transverse corrugations wrapping around the body. In the centre of the two opposing sides is a pair of rounded lobes each pierced with a single circular hole for a rivet, evidentally to secure the clamp.

An incomplete and corroded copper-alloy bracelet of late Roman date. The artefact is sub-rectangular with a rectangle with rounded corners form in cross-section. It has been bent and slightly twisted as a result of old damage. The bracelet is decorated unifacially using multiple motifs. Bracelets decorated using different motifs have been found in this country and on the continent (see for example Crummy (1983, 46; fig. 47), Swift (2000, 154; fig. 192)). This example begins indistinctly due to wear, after which is a transverse ridge. Between this latter and a second transverse ri…
