Treasure case 2007 T575. A small spherical droplet of gold, measuring 5.5mm in diameter and weighing 4 grams. The surface is smooth and only slightly pitted. There is no decoration though some evidence for small hammer marks on the rod. Due to the undiagnostic nature of the find it can not be securely dated to pre-1707 and as such falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.

Unidentified object, cast copper alloy, 24mm x 14.5mm. Appears to be almost complete, sub-rectangular with convex edges and relief decoration depicting a male mask with helmet and beard, long nose and brows represented by a continuous line, and lentoid eyes beneath. Or, possibly two half-faces, with noses and beards towards the outside of the object. Reverse decoration appears to consist of concentric curving lines with pellets towards the ends, perhaps a representation of foliage. Thickness 2.5mm Weight 1.43g (0.045 troy oz/22.2 grains). Suggestions that it could be a gaming piece, co…

A circular disc of stone which is carved on both sides and which is perforated at the edge. The object has a diameter of 57.1mm and is 22.3mm thick. The object’s date and function has not been identified. The stone is fine-grained micaceous sandstone (Stewart Ogilvy pers. comm.). It was found in North Wales about twenty five years ago. Both faces have a rounded channel carved into them. On both faces the channel starts at the hole which is drilled through the disc from the upper to the lower face. The channel then traces the edge of the disc, always at an equal distance to the edge, …

A fragment of a ceramic vessel of uncertain date. The fragment is a body sherd with hard and coarse fabric of a dark brownish-orange colour. Numerous small quartz inclusions are present within the fabric. The fragment is 52.5mm long, 23.8mm wide, 10mm thick and weighs 15.5g. Generic fabric types such as this with no specific diagnostic features can be difficult to date precisely and range from Iron Age to medieval in date. However, it seems probable that this sherd is from a hand made vessel which suggests an earlier date.

Annular copper alloy bracelet, rather bent out of shape. It measures 75.6x56.9mm and weighs 23.40g. Originally it would have been c.75.6mm in diameter (internal 66.4mm). The bracelet in circular in section and is rather thinner on one side than the other (3.3mm diameter to 5mm diameter). Possibly this is through wear. The bracelet is rather crude in construstion - part of the bracelet has an edge and a faceted appearance. Beneath brown corrosion is a dark green patina. Perhaps this is not a bracelet at all but a suspension ring, which would explain the wear. However it may also b…

An incomplete copper alloy loop, possibly related to horse harnesses or cart fittings, such as a terret ring or reign guide. The loop is plain and undecorated but taper in thickness slightly from one surviving terminal to the other. This object is unlikely to be a bracelet because it has an oval cross section, differing to those of bracelets. Due to the object's fragmentary nature, assigning a specific date is not possible, although it is unlikely to date to the prehistoric periods.
