An incomplete lynch pin of Post Medieval to Modern date. The artefact consists of the complete, cast, copper alloy handle, and the rusted stump of the iron shaft. The top of the handle is open being formed from a circular piece of copper fromed into a cresent shape, the downward facing curve of which joins onto above a transverse, cylindrical block, above a flat collar around the cylinrical iron shaft.The handle is red brown underneath a developing green patina.
The handle is 49mm wide, by 41mm tall. The complete remaining height of handle and shaft is 71mm.
The remains weigh 54.5g.

A fragment of a copper-alloy object, possibly a wagon fitting dating to the Roman period. The object comprises a 'L'-shaped and rectangular-section piece of copper-alloy from which extends an openwork 'curl'. The fragment is broken from a larger object but at one end of the 'L'-shaped piece, it clearly becomes offset and circular in section.The fitting measures 36mm in length, 32mm in width and 5mm in thickness. It weighs 20 grams. CONTACT ZSOLT MRAV about wagon fittings.
