Incomplete Medieval Padlock key (probably Goodall's Type B, with bit set centrally to stem), flat-sectioned stem springing from the mouth of an extremely stylised animal-head at the lozengiform bow, bit missing. The bow has a lozengiform bow with angular knop on both side angles and at the terminal. Cast, with filed detail. Extant length 49mm. Width 17mm. Cf. Hevingham (NMS-954F72) and iron key of same type in Goodall (1990) in Biddle, no.3724. 12th-13th century.

Suggested date: Medieval, 1100-1350. Length (as found): 37.7mm, Width (as found): 14.0mm, Height: 17.7mm, Weight: 15.82gms.

A wrought iron key of medieval date, which is attached to a copper alloy ring (SOMDOR-98BF43), along with a latchlifter (SOMDOR-988E62). The key has a long, flat, rectangular sectioned shank with a splayed head. This narrows into a backward loop for attachment to the copper alloy ring. At the other end, the bit projects forwards at a right angle to the shank. The wards form a broken cross in the centre of the bit (the opening is at the front). Dimensions: 174.20mm x 30.02mm x 28.79mm. Weight 72.50g.
