Description: A complete gilded silver medieval to post-medieval bell. Two hemispherical sections are soldered together. The upper one is decorated with a ring of slanted droplet-shaped indentations around its upper end and has an outward flaring lower rim. A circular suspension loop is soldered to the apex. There are two small circular sound holes joined by a narrow slot across the centre of the lower hemisphere. The object has been crushed and distorted and much of the surface gilding is missing. Treasure Case 2016 T791 Description: A silver medieval to post-medieval hawking bell (AD c.1400-c.1600). The bell appears to have been made with a piece of silver sheet, folded in the middle and bent to form two hemispheres. The loop is circular with a decorative collar attaching it to the rest of the bell. This collar has rope-like decoration. Dimensions: Length 8.8mm. Width 3.8mm. Thickness 3.4mm. It weighs 0.67g. A Post-Medieval hollow spherical silver bell in the form of a hawking bell. The bell was formed of two domed sections put together to form a hollow sphere and a thin line remains around the maximum diameter of the bell. The lower hemisphere has damage in the form of small dents and a small irregular perforation. The upper hemisphere has at it's centre a complete but bent and squashed attachment loop.
