The object is a sub-rounded shaped pebble of heavily patinated grey coloured stone, probably granitic in nature. There two worked grooves or cups opposite to each other, possibly to assist grip when used. There are two patches of potential burning, and one of these patches sits next to a patch of potential iron staining. Measurements: Diameter, 98.22mm. Weight: 1227g. Granite pebble hammerstone. A large rounded water-worn cobble of a pale hard igneous rock, probably granite from Glacial Drift. Both ends are brightened and scarred by use as a pounding or hammering tool. The finder kindly notes that an area of the more extensively battered end was reused as a polisher, which has smoothed this zone over a length of 32mm. A large flint hammerstone. A rounded, sub-speroidal piece of mid grey-brown flint with a low gloss patina and iron staining. There are areas of use wear (battering) on much of the surface around the "equator" of the speroid with a few areas on the "poles" where the object was held in use.
