medieval or post medieval copper alloy handle? 53mm long, 13mm wide and 8mm thick with a weight of 2.65grams.
The object is hollow with a rectangular cross section and concave sides. It has what appears to be shell inlay on each of its surfaces with double rounded terminals at each end/ The upper end has a recessed rectangular projection and the opposite end has a rounded gilded knop. It is decorated on its edges with gilding, which appears to be a frame motif with abstract motifs or possibly a human figure? It has been suggested that the item may be a fan handle or similar?
