A cast copper-alloy crest of probable 17th century date. The crest is in the form of a lion's head (langued) dexter, displayed on a wreath. It is moulded at the front and concave at the rear. The object appears to be complete and there is no obvious means of attachment. Consequently, it may have been soldered to another object. This crest has a shiny greenish brown pitted patina at the front and also on the flat base. It is mainly corroded at the rear where there are powdery light green and buff corrosion deposits. 33.6 x 32.9 x 6.1mm. Weight: 16.54g.
