An incomplete worked-bone ear lath from a composite bow dating to the second or third century AD. The object consists of a tongue-shaped strip of bone. The strip has parallel edges and is hemispherical in section. It is broken at one end. At the rounded end, there is a semi-circular groove cut out of one of the parallel sides. This groove shows signs of wear. Along the same side as the groove are several diagonal nicks. These nicks run the length of the object, but appear too irregularly spaced and are too faint to be decoration. The flat underside of the object is diagonally scored. …
