A ceramic ball, solid but for a 4mm diameter central hole. The embossed designs consist of a flower round the hole then a border with an inscription, "HALSESRADIATINGFIREBALLS". Two bands of virtical ellipses are separated by a row of lines. The hole at the other side is encircled by three concentric circles. The best identification of this type of object is that it [& several others] may have been made to add to a grate to prolong the life of a dyingfire overnight.
