Description: A bent and twisted gold bracelet dating to the Middle Bronze Age c.1400-1100 cal BC. The bracelet is made from a single rectangular gold sheet that is crescent shaped in section with a convex outer surface and concave inner surface.  It was presumably originally curved into a penannular hoop without twists, however, it is now twisted into a spiral consisting of at three turns which is mostly flat in profile. Both ends of the strip end in clean transverse terminals which are slightly expanded. It is not clear whether these terminals represent the original length of …

Copper-alloy fragment of Roman armlet (c. 43 - 410 AD) consisting of a narrow band which is flat on one side and decorated with an incised pattern on the other: drilled circular indents run along the centre of the band, encased by lightly scored circles framed at either side of the band by triangular notches that run along the edges. The fragment has been bent at roughly midpoint to an angle of 42°, which may have been deliberate as part of a process of object re-use during the late Roman period (Swift. This consists of three triangular cross sectioned transverse linear depressions in the centre of the object. To one side of this are two possible chevron shaped depressions? A Late Bronze Age (c.1150-750 BC) solid gold penannular armlet or bracelet with a roughly circular cross-section and expanded, dished terminals. At the centre of the bracelet the cross-section measures 7.4x7.1mm. This begins to expand c.14mm before the terminals, widening to 10.2mm before the terminal flares over c.5mm to c.15mm in diameter at the very end (the internal diameter measuring c.13mm). One of the terminals is bent upwards, away from the other. Both terminals are angled at c.45 degrees and it is unlikely they would abut each other. Both terminals have raised edges c.1mm thi…

A fragment of a Roman copper alloy armlet that may have been reused as a finger ring, dating 3rd-4th century AD. The object is formed of a rectangular strip of copper alloy which thickens at on end. There is a punched annulet decoration at the thinner end and two engraved horizontal lines beneath. The object has a mid-light green patina and has been bent into a circular shape so that the ends overlap. The size of the opening is far too small for it to have been the original shape of the object, suggesting an attempt was made in antiquity to convert it into a finger ring. Similar o…

A fragment of a Roman copper alloy armlet, dating from the 4th to early 5th century AD. The object is formed of a rectangular strip of copper alloy which would have been bent into shape. There is a decoration on the outside face constructed of a series of S-shaped motifs formed of small triangular indentations. These motifs form waves on the outer face of the object. The armband has been broken and folded in half. It may have at some point been converted into a finger ring, though this is impossible to tell due to its current state. An incomplete Roman copper alloy terminal, possibly from an armlet, bracelet, or torc. The terminal is formed of three reels. It has a flat head at one end, and a broken conical shaft at the other. The flat head is divided into four wedge-shaped recessed cells; two opposing cells contain red enamel, while the remaining two contain a dark coloured enamel, probably blue. All three reels are decorated with diagonal hatching somewhat like a rope. The two sections between the three reels are concave. The broken apex reveals a hollow centre.
