It is a silver penny of King Edward I, from the Canterbury mint, class 9b1 (c.1299 to end 1300/early 1301). The coin would be of the official English sterling standard, i.e. about 92.5% fine silver. The coin has been altered by the addition of a suspension loop that appears to be of silver also. Its current weight, with the loop, is 1.82g.
