A piece of Roman period Samian ware. The bright surface has worn in many places but is still present in the relief. The fabric is dark orange with few inclusions. There are various images, the main one visible is of a woman carrying a vessel on her shoulder, standing before a doorway. In another panel above her is a bird. Medieval ceramic vessel handle sherd of a variably fired gritty ware. The fabric is pale buff where oxidised and grey where it isn’t. It is scratchable with a thumbnail and has many inclusions and voids mostly up to 1mm. There is a yellow green outer glaze and remnants of sooting. Medieval to early Post Medieval ceramic vessel body sherd of a reduced sandy ware. The fabric’s core is grey, the inner face is orange, and the outer face is a lighter orange with areas of pale grey. It is scratchable with a thumbnail and has many inclusions and voids up, mostly under 1mm with some up to 2mm and one linear void 7mm long. There is a degraded yellow green outer glaze. An incomplete clay tobacco pipe bowl dating to the post medieval period (c.AD 1680-1800). The bowl is undecorated has two mould seams, one on each of the top and bottom. The rim of the bowl is roughly broken. Where the stem would have previously been is an old break. Beneath this break is sprue.

Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval ceramic vessel rim sherd with handle scar. Probably from a jug. It has an abraded reduced gritty buff fabric with a dark grey core that can be scratched with a thumbnail. The fabric has a number of inclusions and occasional voids, both mostly less than 1mm in size but some up to 2mm. Remnant yellow green covering glaze externally. The sherd has a 4mm high horizontal ridge (width 15mm) 35mm below the rim. Probably dates to between c1350 and c1600 AD. The length is 77mm, width 60mm, rim thickness 12mm, maximum thickness 15mm, and the weight is 61.81g.

Late Early Medieval to Medieval ceramic vessel body sherd. It has an abraded, apparently oxidised, gritty buff fabric that can be scratched with a thumbnail. The fabric has a number of inclusions and occasional voids, both mostly less than 1mm in size but some up to 2mm. There is no evidence of glaze. Probably dates from c1000 to c1400 AD, most likely late 11th to 13th century. The length is 36mm, width 28mm, thickness 5mm, and the weight is 6.69g.

Rim and body sherd of medieval green-glaze vessel, dating to c. 1200 - 1400 AD. The sherd has a moulded frilled rim and is probably from a cup or bowl. Base sherd of wheel-thrown medieval pottery with glaze, probably reduced greenware, dating to the period c. 1250 - 1400 AD. The sherd is flat with the slight curve of the body at the edge and an everted base. Very hard dark grey exterior fabric with a light brown core. Sparse, angular poorly-sorted voids (possibly from limestone inclusions) and green glaze on one side of the sherd, on the inner surface of the vessel. The sherd is heavily abraded in an ancient break. The sherd is 59.54mm in length, 35.41mm in width and 14.35mm in thickness. It weighs 25.57g.
