A copper alloy incomplete buckle plate section from a date roughly 1250-1450 AD.
It is rectangular in shape with holes in each corner and one in the centre of the plate. Two holes still contain the rivets that are 3 and 4 mm respectively in length. At one end there are two partial loops which would of had the underside plate attached. Within these loops would have sat the bar of the actual buckle and the pin would have been wrapped round that bar between the two loops. A similar record can be found at NLM-D996BB. See also No.211 in Whitehead (2003).
