Part of a copper alloy strap fitting, probably of 14th cnetury date. The piece is formed of a rectangular piece of copper alloy sheet, now bent in on itself. Ceramic rim sherd from a greyware bowl of Roman date. The rim is expanded into a pointed oval shape with slight ridges at the top and outer side. The vessel wall becomes vertical at the top to meet the rim but below this slopes at 45 degrees. The entire height of the wall is not present but it thickens markedly towards the base. Lead pot mend of 'rivet' form, probably Roman in date. The mend is formed of a strip of lead, D-shaped in cross section, highly convex on the front and flat on the back with two integral pegs. A line running around the side suggests it was built up from two lengths, placed one on top of the other and partially fused, one piece being longer than the other. The pegs are circular in cross section and have a harrower base ending in a bulbous end. The frame appears to have originally been D-shaped and single looped although it is now bent and distorted and the strap bar is worn and broken in the centre. The outer edge widens slightly towards the centre and is flat in cross section but angled downwards from the inner to the outer edge.
