An incomplete, heavily abraded Roman brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill type dating from AD 90-130. The brooch has been heavily abraded during its time in the soil. It is undecorated. The bow is hump-shaped, and less than half of it remains. The foot and catch plate have been lost. One of the two wings has been broken off, the other remains which is semi-cylindrical in shape. The artefact consists of the outer loop of either a single loop, D shaped buckle or a double looped (spectacle) buckle. The frame has a triangular shaped, notched pin rest, with a decorative groove either side. The frame is oval in cross section, and is titled so that the outer face slopes outwards and downwards towards the rear. It has an even mid- green coloured well preserved surface patina. Weight 2.7g. Remaining length 20mm, width 28mm, thickness 3.8mm.

A fragment from the rim of a post medieval, cast copper alloy, chaffing dish.The fragment consists of a dish support with length of rim to one side. The fragment is smooth, with a green patina developing over the grey metal. The remaining section of rim represents 6% of the original, giving a vessel opening of approximately 17cm diameter. A cast copper alloy fragment most probably from a medieval 'roller' buckle (1350-1500). The fragment is relatively small comprising a pointed oval hoop from which extends two horizontal bars - one either side . The mid point of one side of the oval has a deliberate worn pin rest / notch. The buckle is a mid grey green colour with an applied black coloured surface - possibly decayed tinning. A cast lead alloy cloth seal of post medieval date (1550-1800). The cloth seal is incomplete and broken - almost all detail is lost through corrosion and abrasion. The seal is formed of two discs conjoined by a folded tablike strip. The central spike which would have penetrated the cloth is lost - suggesting that this seal has been deliberately removed before being discarded, The design on the front face is indistinct - possibly being a large A with heavy cross bar and top bar; the reverse face is broken and distorted due to damage. A cast copper-alloy end cap (terminal / pommel) from a scale-tang knife of later medieval or post-medieval date (AD 1400-1600) The terminal is incomplete and one side has been damaged - originally the cap would have been fleur-de-lis shaped with a central domed element which was flanked by two out-turned crescents - only one of which survives. A deep central longitudinal sub-rectangular (V shaped) slot that enabled a tang to be accommodated is present at one end of the knife. A cast copper alloy fragment - most probably from a steelyard of Roman date (AD 50-350). The fragment is rectangular in plan and profile and triangular in cross section. The upper surface has a series of incised transverse grooves / notches which are evenly spaced suggesting that they are deliberately graded. The surface of the fargment is poorly preserved with a dark green coloured polished patina being present - which has been heavily eroded and the metal has corroded to a mid- purpleish brown colour.
