One side is much wider than the other giving the mend a mushroom shaped profile. A plough strike has shortened one side. The mend has a creamy white patina. The pot mend weighs 25.8g.

A complete, cast lead, pot mend / vessel repair of Roman to Medieval date. This mend was for a vessel wall of 3mm to 3.2mm thickness. A fragment of pottery remains in the plug, it is orange in colour with some black inclusions of about 5mm diameter. The mend is broadly tear dropped in plan on one side, and circular on the smaller side. It has a white patina. The mend 34.8mm long, 23.3mm wide and 10.4mm thick, it weighs 41.1g.

A sherd of Roman Samianware pottery from the base of a small bowl or dish. The fine fabric is slightly soft, and orange-red in colour, without a core. On both surfaces are the remains of a red, gloss slip. This is probably Samian Ware or an imitation of it. The fragment has no decoration.This sherd comprises the side wall of the vessel, part of the foot ring and a small section of the base. Wall thickness 5.3mm.

A small sherd from the base or possibly handle of a glass vessel of either probably Roman date (50-450 AD) or possibly post medieval date (1550-1750). The fragment is irregular and relatively thick. It has been abraded in the ploughsoil and the edges are either chipped or abraded. An iridescent surface sheen is present. Beneath this the glass is a mid 'cobalt' blue colour with small gas / air bubbles in the matrix. The form of the vessel cannot be suggested from the fragment, if from the base it is possibly from a carinated vessel with a small out-turned foot, if it were from a handle…

A lead alloy vessel repair / pot mend of Roman to Medieval date (AD 50-1500). Cast plug to mend a vessel wall of 3mm thickness (estimated). The object is sub oval in plan with a distinct H shaped cross section. Held within the groove is a small fragment of grey courseware thin walled pottery sandwiched between the two layers of lead. This fabric is mica rich with white quartz and grit inclusions.On the larger surface there is an irregular verticle incised cross. The mend has a creamy white patina with a slight powdery surface. A fragment of Roman pottery. This sherd is from the rim of a Samian Ware open bowl, possibly form 31, and possibly from Lezoux. There is a patch of red brown slip on both sides of the vessel, and the fabric is very fine. The vessel wall is 8.2mm thick. The lip is rounded and faces outwards at an angle of about 45 degrees from the line of the side wall. The sherd is 49.5mm wide by 57.4mm tall. It weighs 24.8g.

Three pottery sherds from a Roman vessel. These sherds are Severn Valley Ware. The fabric is orange buff in colour with a grey core Two of the sherds fit together and have a decorative rib that runs horizontal to the vesel. The semi circular rib is about 3mm high and 6mm wide. The vessel wall is 5.8mm thick. This fragments weigh 4.15g, 2.72g and 1.84g.

A sherd of pottery from the rim of a Roman vessel. The vessel is Severn Valley Ware. The fabric is orange with a wide grey core, indicating it was fired under reduced conditions. The surface is pitted. There are inclusions of red-brown grit, black grit and grey grit, coal, pieces of quartz and a spread of micra. The vessel wall flares outwards towards the rim which is simply rounded without a lip. The wall varies in thickness from 9.8mm to 10.4mm thick. The fragment weighs 22.9g, and is 37mm wide by 36mm tall.

A sherd of Roman pottery. This fragment is from the handle of a Severn Valley Ware vessel, being rounded on both sides. The vessel was fired in reduced conditions, with only the outer surfaces turning orange, the inner surface is grey like the wide core. The fabric contians micra and has inclusions of black, grey, brown and red-brown grit. The handle is 8.8mm thick. The fragment weighs 14.5g and is 34mm high by 35mm wide.

This fragment was 8% of the rim, and the pot's outer diameter was 36cm. The vessel wall is 16.9mm thick. The fabric contains bits of ground pot as temper, flecks of white disolved Ollite limestone and grey/black inclusions. The fragment is 88mm long by 54mm wide. The fragment weighs 105g.

This sherd is decorated with four shallow circumreferential ribs. The sherd has a shallow pale orange surface with a grey core. The vessel wall is 4.2mm thick. The sherd 30.0mm tall by 21.5mm wide, and weighs 2.94g.
