A well preserved but incomplete cast copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative Polden Hill type of Roman date (AD 80-120). The wings are complete with flat and pierced end caps. An incomplete, cast, copper alloy buckle frame of medieval or post medieval date, AD c. 1350-c. 1650. The artefact consists of the outer loop of either a single loop, D shaped buckle or a double looped (spectacle) buckle. The frame has a triangular shaped, notched pin rest, with a decorative groove either side. The frame is oval in cross section, and is titled so that the outer face slopes outwards and downwards towards the rear. It has an even mid- green coloured well preserved surface patina. Weight 2.7g. Remaining length 20mm, width 28mm, thickness 3.8mm.

Rear shows flat topped shield, area above shield too worn to see any date or symbol. The majority of the legends have been lost to clipping. The date range of this coin can be reduced to the period 1625-1629 due to the use of a square topped shield over long cross fourchee (rather than later oval or garnished shields). A near complete, cast copper alloy buckle frame dating c1575-c1700. The frame is an asymetrical double loop, with a trapezoidal rear loop and a rounded front loop. The frame is decorated with prominent knops at either end of the strap bar. The frame has a flat rear, and a rounded face and sides that taper in slightly from the rear to the front. An incomplete copper alloy later early medieval pin. The head is a globular with a small collar directly below. The head is decorated with diagonal grooves that are only clear on the lower half. The shaft is circular in cross-section and is nearly complete, with only the tip recently lost. The shaft has been bent twice, firstly at 90 degrees, and then again a further 45 degrees. The only markings are four irregularly spaced, incised ringlets on one half of the top side. The weight has a yellow grey patina all over. The maximum diameter of the weight is 30.5mm, and its maximum thickness, at the rim, is 5.4mm. It weighs 23.95g ( 0.845oz).

Rim sherd of a glazed earthenware vessel - possibly a small bowl or dish - of medieval date (1200-1450). The fabric is a hard earthenware: it is mica rich, having well sorted sparse grit-like and grog inclusions. The fabric is an oxidised orange colour. A green coloured glaze has been applied to the interior of the bowl - it has decayed in places to a muddy brown colour. The sherd measures 37.4mm width, 17.2mm high, 20.6mm thick at rim it weighs 10.86 grams. The diameter of the rim is 20cmm and approximately 5% of the rim survives.

There is a simple band of vertical indentations below the bowl rim. There is no makers stamp on the foot. The bowl opening varies from 10.1mm to 10.6mm in diameter. The pipe is 36.3mm high, with a maximum diameter in its middle of 20.7mm. It weighs 12.2g.

An incomplete post-medieval cast copper-alloy strap-fitting. The artefact consists of a blunt hook, bent slightly to one side, which holds a separate pendent ring. Above the hook the mount is sub oval with two lugs above that bifurcate forming a V shape. Beyond this is mount is broken, so that it is now incomplete. The mount was attached by a single iron rivet in the centre of the oval element, just below the bifurcation, the corroded remains of which are still present in the fitting. A copper-alloy buckle of medieval or post-medieval date, incomplete in so far as it is missing its pin. The frame is a plain, formed of two conjoined oval loops. There is a small notch acting as a pin rest central on the front of one of the loops. In cross-section the frame is a rounded rectangle. The buckle has a mid-green patina with small specs of light green corrosion product. The frame is 39.4mm long, 27.0mm wide and 2.9mm thick. It weighs 6.41g. Similar buckle frames are illustrated by Whitehead (2003, 52-53; nos. 291-299) which are given a wide date range, c. 1350-1650.

This fragment comes from the rim where there is a pronounced, outward facing lip that is a quarter circule in cross section with a flat top. The vessel wall slopes inwards at about 22.5 degrees from the vertical.The vessel is a dark green-black in colour with a smooth burnished finish. The vessel wall is 1.2mm thick. The fragment represents 8% of the rim and the rim diameter would of been 11cm. The vessel was possibly a chaffing dish. The fragment weighs 6.75g, and is 18mm tall by 31mm wide.

One end of the piercing has a rounded lip. There is no descernable decoration. The spindle is light grey in colour. The spindle is 24.8mm in diameter, and 14.0mm high. The piercing is 9.4mm in diameter at the plain end and 10.0mm at the lipped end. The whorl weighs 24.6g.

An incomplete cast lead alloy weight of unknown date. This plain, crude lead weight is broadly concial in shape and weighs one pound (491g). The weight originally had an iron loop, the stubs of which protude from opposite sides near the top. The conical shape has a broad rounded top, and around the base there is a wide, uneven lip. The weight has a cream patina, with the underlying grey metal showing at the sight of a recent plough strike. The weight is 39.6mm tall and has a maximum diameter of 54.3mm. The weight is similar to example 69 and 75 in Biggs and Withers, Lead Weights.

This pipe would of fitted into the stock of the fiream beneath the barrel to hold the ramrod. The pipe has been flattened but its original internal diameter of the pipe would of been about 12mm which gives us a rough calibre for the musket barrel of .5 of an inch, suggesting it was for game shooting rather than a military firearm. A lead weight of Roman to Post Medieval date. It was crudely formed by rolling a piece of flat lead into an hollow cylinder, and was probably designed to hang around a cord or thread. This plain weight is oval in cross-section. It has a white patina. It is 20.2mm long and is 12.4mm x 10.8mm in cross section. It weighs 11.8g.

An incomplete strap fitting of Medieval date. The fitting is of the bar strap type, being sub oval in plan, consisting of a domed oval body with hollowed back. At each end of the oval is a rounded solid lobe, one being larger than the other. There is the stump of a projecting circular pin behind each lobe, with the pin fitting through a piercing in the lobe. The fitting is decorated with four unequal horizontal bands that run across the full width of the dome about its centre. The fitting has a dark green patina with lighter corrsion. A complete cast copper alloy ring of probable Roman - Modern date (50 - 1800). The ring is broadly circular in plan, and is sub oval in cross section, with the outer edge being rounded and the inner edge bevelled. There is a thinner area, possibly due to wear. There is no obvious cast or incised decoration present. The ring has a light - mid greenish grey patina with areas of the reddish brown alloy still showing. An incomplete later medieval or post Medieval copper alloy annular buckle. The artefact consists of the buckle frame which is an annular double loop. The frame is slightly elongated, being an oval rather than a true circle. The fame is sub-rectangular in profile, having a flat back, straight inner edge, and a front face that slopes down to the rounded outer edge. Fragment from the rim of a Roman vessel. The vessel is Severn Valley Ware, being orange in colour, with a reduced grey core and having a course finish. The rim is rounded and turns outwards. The fragment is to small to accurately estimate the vessel diameter or form. The vessel wall is 8.6mm thick, the fragment is 24.5mm tall by 23.9mm long and weighs 5.45g.

An incomplete cast copper alloy furniture fitting of post medieval date (1450-1750). The aretfact comes from the lower section of a drop handle (or draw pull). The rectangular upper loop is lost, as is the left hand terminal. The plate of the handle is sub-rectangular in both plan and cross section; the edges are bevelled. The lower edge is bifurcated and curves on the reverse, with a small oval knop positioned on the remaining outer edge. An incomplete, Medieval or Post Medieval (AD 1200-1800), cast, lead alloy token. The token is broadly round and uniface, but with abraded edges. The cast raised pattern is faint, particularly in the photograph and is also obscured by two gouges from machinery strikes. The pattern consists of 6 unevenly spaced radial lines with single pellets between.The token has a cream patina, and is grey where the underlying metal has been exposed by abbrasion Its maximum diameter is 24.2mm, it is 1.7mm thick and weighs 6.11g.
