An incomplete, heavily abraded Roman brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill type dating from AD 90-130. The brooch has been heavily abraded during its time in the soil. It is undecorated. This weight is marked on both sides with a turned double circle on exterior edge which encloses over 3 lines S // 21 // 5 rosette / sunburst 9. Both faces share the same die axis and the coin weight is a mid-green colour with mild abrasion The coin weight measures 21.5mm diameter, is 3.0mm thick and weighs 8.19 grams ( .289oz / 126.4 grains)

The fragment is relatively small comprising a pointed oval hoop from which extends two horizontal bars - one either side . A cast lead alloy cloth seal of post medieval date (1550-1800). The cloth seal is incomplete and broken - almost all detail is lost through corrosion and abrasion. The seal is formed of two discs conjoined by a folded tablike strip. The button is machine pressed with a pierced debased triskelle like design comprising three crescent shaped arms terminating in trefoil / clover shaped bosses - these bosses are decorated with red and green enamel. Silver cut half penny probably of King John struck by the moneyer Iohan (Johan) at an uncertain mint - most probably Canterbury but this part of the coin is cut away. From the look and feel of the lettering and portrait this coin is likely to belong to Short Cross Class 5 - struck between 1204-1207 - this is one of the most common classes and Canterbury is also a prolific mint at this time.

A heavily abraded, cast copper alloy mount of unknown date (50-1800) - most probably Medieval (1200-1450). The mount is incomplete, it compromises a relatively thin incomplete quatrefoil plate from which extends a large square sectioned bar that terminates in a turned knop. The upper plate has a saltire cross formed from cast depressions on the plate and the surface seems to have been originally gilded with a white metal. Cast lead alloy weight with integrally cast loop of probable medieval or post medieval date (1250 – 1700). The weight is broadly sub-rectangular in both plan and cross section. The loop is broken, and what remains of the hole is elliptical probably through wear. Along one edge of the weight a clear seam is present, this does not seem to be part of the casting residue from a mould; instead it seems to have been deliberately cut into the surface of the metal having a distinct U shaped profile. A cast copper alloy ring of unknown date, most probably later prehistoric – Roman (300 BC- 400AD). The function of the ring is unknown, being too slight for functional harness and too large for a finger ring. The ring is circular in plan and has a distinct angular sub-triangular cross section. It has broken / cracked in one place; it is likely that this is relatively recent damage. The width of the ring is relatively uniform; on one internal edge are the partial remains of casting residue. Cast and wrought copper alloy open bracelet probably dating to either the Roman period or the late medieval / post-medieval periods (100-450 or 1450-1650 AD). The bracelet is formed from three lengths of oval sectioned copper alloy wire twisted together to form one ‘rope like’ length. The diameter of the individual wires is 2.1mm width x 1.8mm thickness.
