An incomplete, probable Early Post Medieval copper alloy (possibly iron) chape possibly for a sword or dagger dating to circa AD 1500-1700. The object has a triangular form with tapered sides that terminate with a large knop. The object has an oval shaped cross section. The aperture is oval in section and filled with concretion and possibly some wood and leather remains of the scabbard. The object has a mid-brown coloured patina with a pitted surface.
