A copper alloy Roman coin / nummus most probably of the fourth century. The coin is heavily abraded from ploughing with almost all of both surfaces removed, with just a bit of dark green patina remaining of the original surface. There are no distinguishable features remaining. The eroded surface is red brown. Diameter 12.5mm. Thickness 0.9mm. Weight 0.4g.

A complete, copper, Scottish twopence of Charles I. Known as a Turner or Bodle. These coins were struck in four yeras, 1642, 1644, 1648 and 1650. The coin is worn, especially around the edges. On the obverse is a crown abover CR, on the reverse a thistle with two leaves. There is a green patina over the majority of the coin. Diameter 19.6mm, thickness 1.5mm, weight 3.0g. Seaby: 5598-5601

A Roman cast copper alloy coin. It has a smooth yellow-brown patina indicating it is brass rather than bronze. The coin is very eroded and only on the revese can any detail be made out, namely the letters S and C either side of a vertical figure. This coin dates from 50-250 AD and is probably a As. The diameter varies from 24.2mm to 26.1mm. It is 3.2mm thick and weighs 10.1g.

A Roman copper alloy Nummus of 4th century date. The coin is heavily corroded and on one face it has a thick encrustation making further identification impossible. The coin is 21.2mm in diameter and 2.5mm thick at the rim. It weighs 4.1g, but the thick encrustation will be a significant contribution.

The remains of a copper alloy early Roman bronze coin. The fragment is irregular in plan and profile and seems to have been altered by severe uncontrolled heat, creating a metalic blob similar in patina to many early Roman coins; sesterti, dupondi or asses. Due to the distortion a direct parallel has not been found.
