Knapped flint blade of late Mesolithic date (6500 - 4000 BC). The lower part of the blade is deliberately snapped, whilst the upper has a considerable amount of cortex. The blade is broadly sub-rectangular in plan (having curved / convex and concave long edges) and oval in cross section. The presence of cortex suggests that the core is relatively new as this is usually removed in the first phases of working. Knapped flint blade of probable later Mesolithic or earlier Neolithic date (4500 - 3500 BC). The flint is broadly sub-rectangular in plan and lentoid in cross section. It has been struck from a relatively small core which has been worked in several directions. The ventral (reverse) face has a distinct bulb of percussion and conchoidal fractures; a slight striking platform is present on the heel of the flake.
