A sherd of pottery from a Roman vessel. The sherd is from the rim of a Severn Valley Ware vessel. The fabric is coarse and orange-buff in colour with a grey core. The vessel wall turns outwards towards the rim which is simply rounded. The vessel wall thins slightly from the rim down. At the rim it is 8.4mm thick and further down its 6.1mm. The sherd is 24mm high, 18mm wide and weighs 5.1g.

A sherd of Roman pottery. This fragment is from the handle of a Severn Valley Ware vessel, being rounded on both sides. The vessel was fired in reduced conditions, with only the outer surfaces turning orange, the inner surface is grey like the wide core. The fabric contians micra and has inclusions of black, grey, brown and red-brown grit. The handle is 8.8mm thick. The fragment weighs 14.5g and is 34mm high by 35mm wide.

A sherd of pottery from the rim of a Roman vessel. The vessel is Severn Valley Ware. The fabric is orange with a wide grey core, indicating it was fired under reduced conditions. The surface is pitted. There are inclusions of red-brown grit, black grit and grey grit, coal, pieces of quartz and a spread of micra. The vessel wall flares outwards towards the rim which is simply rounded without a lip. The wall varies in thickness from 9.8mm to 10.4mm thick. The fragment weighs 22.9g, and is 37mm wide by 36mm tall.

Three pottery sherds from a Roman vessel. These sherds are Severn Valley Ware. The fabric is orange buff in colour with a grey core Two of the sherds fit together and have a decorative rib that runs horizontal to the vesel. The semi circular rib is about 3mm high and 6mm wide. The vessel wall is 5.8mm thick. This fragments weigh 4.15g, 2.72g and 1.84g.

A fragment of Roman pottery. This sherd is from the rim of a Samian Ware open bowl, possibly form 31, and possibly from Lezoux. There is a patch of red brown slip on both sides of the vessel, and the fabric is very fine. The vessel wall is 8.2mm thick. The lip is rounded and faces outwards at an angle of about 45 degrees from the line of the side wall. The sherd is 49.5mm wide by 57.4mm tall. It weighs 24.8g.

A fragment of Roman pottery from the rim of a large storage pot. The rim has a orange grey colouring, being reduced Severn Valley Ware. This fragment was 8% of the rim, and the pot's outer diameter was 36cm. The vessel wall is 16.9mm thick. The fabric contains bits of ground pot as temper, flecks of white disolved Ollite limestone and grey/black inclusions. The fragment is 88mm long by 54mm wide. The fragment weighs 105g.

A fragment of pottery from the rim of a Roman bowl. The fabric is Oxfordshire Black Burnished Ware, being dark grey in colour and burnished on both sides. The vessel had upright sides with only a slight outwards taper, and a rounded lip that is at a right angles to the outer edge, The fragment represents less 5% of the rim, with the diameter being between 12cm to 20cm. The vessel wall thickens slightly towards the rim, where it is 7.7mm thick. The lip measures 12.4mm from its outer edge to the inner wall of the vessel. The fragment is 24.1mm wide and 22.9mm tall. It is Severn Valley Ware being orange-buff in colour with a greyish reduced core. The base of the dish would of been between 11cm and 13cm in diameter. The fragment is 6.9mm at it thickest. The rim is rounded and slightly wider than the wall, it is also at a slight angle to the vessel side, probably being upright in the orignal vessel, with the wall being at a steep inwards angle. The vessel wall is 5.3mm thick. The sherd is 22.2mm wide and 22.7mm tall, and weighs 3.83g.

The sherd is a mid-grey to orange buff, with a mid grey core suggesting this piece was fired in reducing conditions. A sherd of Roman Samianware pottery from the base of a small bowl or dish. The fine fabric is slightly soft, and orange-red in colour, without a core. On both surfaces are the remains of a red, gloss slip. This is probably Samian Ware or an imitation of it. The fragment has no decoration.This sherd comprises the side wall of the vessel, part of the foot ring and a small section of the base. Wall thickness 5.3mm.
