A complete, 17th century, copper alloy, token. The token is a half penny of John Hill Ross, and is dated 1666. The token is red brown in colour and corroded. The obeverse legend is [IOHN HILL] [OF] ROSS, the design is a beaded oval containing 1D/2 with three mullets / stars either side. The reverse legend is [HIS HALFE] PENEY 6[6], the design is abeaded oval, containing I:H with a mullet / star either side. Diameter 19.1mm, thickness 1.1mm, weight 1.65g. A complete, copper, Scottish twopence of Charles I. Known as a Turner or Bodle. These coins were struck in four yeras, 1642, 1644, 1648 and 1650. The coin is worn, especially around the edges. On the obverse is a crown abover CR, on the reverse a thistle with two leaves. There is a green patina over the majority of the coin. Diameter 19.6mm, thickness 1.5mm, weight 3.0g. Seaby: 5598-5601

A complete, cast lead spindle whorl of probable Medieval date. It is biconical in shape, with a circular perforation in the centre. The whorl has been miscast, with a leak in the mould resulting in the lead from one side forming as blobs on the other. One of these blobs detached from the whorl as the artefact was being recovered and this blob has been weighed with the rest of the artefact. An incomplete copper-alloy hooked mount of post-medieval date (c. 16th century). The plate of the hook is flat backed and sub-rectangular. The attachment end is slightly rounded, and the plate then expands slightly along its length, until before the hook there is a cusped collar with a semicircular removal on each side, above which a smaller removal. An incomplete, cast copper alloy, Roman brooch. This is a Dolphin type brooch with hinge mechansim.The fragment consists of the bow and the head. The brooch is hevaily corroded but there are faint remains of decorative ribs around the head, either side of the bow. The head is cylindrical with a central recess where the pin was attached to the axle bar, which is still present in the central peircing. The brooch has a mid green patina. A complete, cast lead, pot mend / vessel repair of Roman to Medieval date. This mend was for a vessel wall of 3mm to 3.2mm thickness. A fragment of pottery remains in the plug, it is orange in colour with some black inclusions of about 5mm diameter. The mend is broadly tear dropped in plan on one side, and circular on the smaller side. It has a white patina. The mend 34.8mm long, 23.3mm wide and 10.4mm thick, it weighs 41.1g.

An incomplete post-medieval copper-alloy double-looped buckle dating to c. 1650-1720. What remains is one loop and the bar of frame. The buckle has cast floral decoration with a rosette at the centre of the outer edge of the loop (rose shaped knop) and sub-triangular protrusions at both ends of the narrowed pin bar in the form of moulded lis. The protrusions at the pin bar would have sat at the centre of pronouncedly incurved top and bottom edges. A clipped post-medieval silver shilling of James I (1603-1625). Uncertain coinage (North 2072-2073, 2099-2101, 2124-2125). Initial mark: unclear, dating to 1603-1625. Mint of London (Tower). North (1975, 121-124). This coin has been heavily clipped inside of its inner bead circle, so the legends have been removed. The obverse is very worn with only the XII denomination and the crown showing. The reverse is worn with only the outline of the shield and the bottom two quarters showing. A complete, cast lead alloy, weight of post medieval date. The weight is flat and broadly circular in plan. It has an abraded , irregular rim, which is most prominent on the top side. The irregular nature of the rim is probably due to movement in the plough soil. On both sides of the weight is a central indentation. The only markings are four irregularly spaced, incised ringlets on one half of the top side. The weight has a yellow grey patina all over. The maximum diameter of the weight is 30.5mm, and its maximum thickness, at the rim, is 5.4mm. It weighs 23.95g ( 0.845oz).

It measures 25.omm long by 23.8 wide, and is 3.2 mm thick. It weighs 3.22g.

Rim sherd of a glazed earthenware vessel - possibly a small bowl or dish - of medieval date (1200-1450). The fabric is a hard earthenware: it is mica rich, having well sorted sparse grit-like and grog inclusions. The fabric is an oxidised orange colour. A green coloured glaze has been applied to the interior of the bowl - it has decayed in places to a muddy brown colour. The sherd measures 37.4mm width, 17.2mm high, 20.6mm thick at rim it weighs 10.86 grams. The diameter of the rim is 20cmm and approximately 5% of the rim survives.
