A small sherd from the base or possibly handle of a glass vessel of either probably Roman date (50-450 AD) or possibly post medieval date (1550-1750). The fragment is irregular and relatively thick. It has been abraded in the ploughsoil and the edges are either chipped or abraded. An iridescent surface sheen is present. Beneath this the glass is a mid 'cobalt' blue colour with small gas / air bubbles in the matrix. The form of the vessel cannot be suggested from the fragment, if from the base it is possibly from a carinated vessel with a small out-turned foot, if it were from a handle…
