Abraded and corroded head of a small, copper alloy brooch. Patina is smooth dark green in places, but much of the surface is coloured light green by bronze disease. Possible hint of pattern on top surface but corrosion is so bad as to make it indistinguishable. To the rear, above the spring housing are two shallow grooves, all that remain of a hook and groove system to hold the external wire chord of the spring. A possible, incomplete cast lead alloy (pewter?), disc brooch of Weetch type 5 and early medieval date (10th century AD). There is some debate as to whether this is actually part of a brooch or possibly a post medieval lead token; due to significant areas of damage it is impossible to be certain of the identification. However, it is the recorders assessment that the diagnostic elements of design and potential fittings on the reverse suggest that this is a brooch. An incomplete fragment from the head of a copper alloy Roman Trumpet brooch dating from 75 - 175AD. The lower bow and foot of the brooch are lost. The upper bow tapers from a flared head to a relatively recent break suggesting damage in the plough-zone. The break is jagged and reveals the core of the brooch which is a black colour and seems separate to the green copper alloy casing - the black substance is relatively soft and slight granular and comes easily away from the copper alloy. A fragment of a Roman, cast copper alloy, Polden Hill brooch. The much abarded fragment comes from the head of the brooch and consists of the base of the bow and one arm. The bow is broad and thin, at its base a central rib runs towards the spring housing and may once of extended beyond the bow for the spring to attach to. Under the bow is rectangular groove for the spring, with a further square grove under the remaining arm. The brooch is dark green with extensive area of light green corrosion. The fragment is 9.6mm long, 19.5mm wide and 13.7mm high. It weighs 4.1g.

Fragment of a copper alloy, jewelled, Medieval Brooch. The fragment consists of a curved section of the brooch frame with two turrets. The frame is D shape in profile. One turret is directly on the curved frame, projecting perpendicular from the frame and contains a decorative white paste. The other turret is next to the first one, projecting out from the frame, and probably held a glass setting or 'non-precious gem / stone' that would of been displayed at an obtuse angle to the white turret on the frame. The head has a rolled spring case, with a central recess to take the back of the pin when the brooch was open. The brooch is hevaily corroded but there are faint remains of decorative ribs around the head, either side of the bow.
