An incomplete medieval strap end or possibly a strap plate / chape from a medieval buckle c. 1300 - 1600 AD The strap end is abraded at both ends, so its plan is not certain, but it sides are straight and taper slightly inwards towards what was probably the terminal end. There is the suggestion of a rounded corner on both sides of the broken terminal end. In cross section it is flat with a shallow central ridge on the front face which contains a grove. Cast copper alloy composite strap end consisting of two parallel plates held together either side of a forked spacer by a pair of rivets. Probably a strap end or buckle plate. No sign of decoration but the plates are very corroded.
