An incomplete, copper alloy, possible token of possibly the Post Medieval period, dating from c. AD 1500 - AD 1800. The token has been broken around the edge, and would have been circular in plan. The obvers depicts a bust left, with pellets around the top of the head, maybe depicting a stylised crown or headdress. There is a rectangular rim around the edge and there does not appear to be any legend around the token. A Post Medieval lead alloy token of Elizabeth I (AD 1558-1603), issued circa AD 1574. North (1991) Vol 2. No. 2062/2063. The obverse depicts a Double headed eagle and the reversea Crowned rose, the inscription is unclear. It may read BEATI REGINA or GOD SAVE THE QUENE. Other tokens of this type have been reorded on the PAS database, LON-87200F discovered in London and IOW-3AAA72 on the ISLe of Wight and SUR-8EBEA7 from Surrey. North (1991) suggested that they were normally found in London however the PAS database has a number recorded from across the country.
