In plan mount is a 'T' shape with a horizontal semi-circle which is fixed centrally to the lower terminal of the vertical bar. The semi-circle has a central circular hole which is counter sunk on the front face and the reverse. The horizontal bar is sub-circular in section, with the cast seam visible along its upper edge. The vertical bar is trapezoidal in section with the narrow facing at the front of the mount. The front face of this bar is also curved, thereby becoming convex. This curve continues to the upper edge of the horizontal bar. The reverse of the mount is flat. The item h…

A cast copper-alloy circular loop of uncertain date. The loop has know datable diagnostic features. It is possibly a strap loop and just possibly a very small finger ring, although the small diameter (external 18.43 mm, internal 13.4 mm) and relatively crude execution perhaps makes this less likely. The loop tapers from 4.56 mm in height to 3.55 mm, and from 3.26 mm thick to 2.6 mm. The outer surface is much abraded and corroded but the interior has a smooth dark green patina.

A cast copper-alloy mount or strap fitting of possible Medieval - Post Medieval date.  The object has a central lobe and two terminal lobes each containing a sub-circular perforation and has bevelled edges. The central hole has a diameter of 2.6mm. The left hole has a diameter of 5.2mm and the right hole has a diameter of 4mm. Due to the smaller size of the central hole, this could have been for a rivet. Underneath the centre hole, the body of the object curves inwards towards it. A small triangular knop is above the left hole. No decoration is present. The reverse is f…

An incomplete copper alloy strap slide or fitting, of Roman to Post Medieval dating (AD 43 to AD 1600). The strap slide consists of a rectangular bar with incomplete ends. One end exhibits a 90 degree bend. The breaks are patinated.  It measures 31.0 mm in length, 8.9 mm wide and 10.3 mm thick. It weighs 8.9 g. The strap slide is a dark green to brown colour, with an even surface patina. Abrasion, caused by movement whilst within the plough soil, has resulted in a loss of some of the original surface detail. This fragment is from the back of a strap slide, which could be Roman…

The mount is an elongated moulded shape. One terminal is triangular with a high relief triangle as decoration. The opposite terminal is broken. After the high relief triangle is a large openwork circle. This leads to a high relief rectangular with tapered corners. An area of openwork follows, however it is incomplete. The reverse of the item is moulded in relation to the front, therefore having hollow pits where a decorative feature is. After the openwork circle there is one stud which is square in section and leans slightly.

On the reverse are two tapering spikes, which are sub-circular in section, both folded in different directions. The surface of the reverse is slightly hollow with dark fibrous patches within the remaining soil, which maybe leather remains.

The item has a semi-circular shaped base in plan. Protruding from the horizontal edge of the semi-circle is a tapering, triangular section stem which has a broken terminal. Where the protrusion meets the semi-circle there is a step down from the protrusion to the semi-circle. The reverse of the semi-circle has a hollow, off-centre, circular indention. The item has a shiny grey patina. The item maybe a 19th - 20th century drop handle. However, it could be argued that the item is a Roman strap-end. The lack of a probable loop does help to narrow the identification.

The mount has a central circular hole, formed by a sub-circular domed frame. An arm protrudes from this frame. The arm has a vertical ridge near the frame and then tapers with a knop at the terminal. The knop has a small rivet in the centre. The rivet is incomplete. At the opposite side of the sub-circular frame there is a broken edge, suggesting a second arm maybe missing. The reverse of the mount is flat and has oblique file marks over all the surface.
