A complete copper alloy Medieval swivel strap fitting dating to circa AD1100-1500.  The object comprises of two loops of different sizes, articulated together on a pivot. The smaller loop is D-shaped in cross section and has an integrally cast axis projecting from an inverted conical collar; this axis sits within a hole in the base of the larger loop and is decorated with triangular incisions and two grooves nearer the loop. The base for the larger loop is bi-convex in shape and is affixed to the larger loop with a pyramid shaped axis. A  post-Medieval cast copper-alloy 'S'-shaped strap or belt fastener dating c. AD 1575-1800. The fastener has two swan or serpent head terminals at each end whose necks curve to form hooks. The strap fitting consists of a sub triangular plate with two rivet holes and a hook perpendicular to the plate formed by bending over the narrowed end of the plate. The face is moulded slightly convex with the reverse slightly concave through the centre.  Across the front of the plate is a single transverse line below the rivet holes. The mount has a convex, rounded central body with a series of transverse ribs decorating the middle. The very centre of the main body has a rivet hole but the rivet is now missing.
