A Medieval copper alloy strap fitting in the form of a swivel dating to circa AD 1100-1300. The swivel is circular in plan and oval in profile, with a square sectioned copper alloy arm projecting from the centre of each of the sides. Both of the arms are broadly square in plan, with rounded corners at the ends terminals. The bar is slightly narrowed as it passes through the rounded swivel. An incomplete copper alloy toggle clasp (eye-section) dating to the early Post Medieval period (c. AD 1500-1600). The object is one part of a two-section sword belt fitting of Type 1 classification (Read 2008: 208-9; see nos 753-755). The eye is a rectangular open slot with a circular attachment loop on one side. The short ends of the slot are stepped forward, the terminal end of which is curved to accommodate the bar from the toggle of the second section now missing. A copper alloy lozenge-shaped stud dating from the late Medieval to the late Post-medieval period, circa AD 1400-1800.The front face is decorated possibly with a flower in the centre although the surface is fairly worn. The fitting consists of two matching, interlocking elements which articulate to form a swivelling fitting between two straps. Each half of the fitting has a D-shaped loop and strap fitting at its outer end and a half-spherical joint at the other. The joints are fused together and no longer rotate. An additional piece of sheet copper alloy has been wrapped around the outer loop, forming a 'roller'. It measures 8.9 mm in length, 20.2 mm wide, and 2.2 mm thick. It weighs 0.8g.
