An incomplete silver penny of Edward I reign (1272-1307). The coin is clipped around the entire circumference, and shows signs of wear on the bust and around both obverse and reverse legends. On the obverse the legend reads EDWR ANGL DNS HYB, and the mint mark is a cross pattée. There is possibly a wedge between the R and A, although this is uncertain due to the clipping. The crown is similar to Fig 27 shown in North (1991, pg. 26), with trifoliate side fleurs and a thin band with spearhead ornaments. A clipped silver penny of Edward I (1272-1307) minted in Cantebury issue of 1301-1310. The coin has been overstruck, causing the legend on the obverse to be struck twice. The top of the coin, where the initial mark is, has been clipped more than the other areas.
Obverse: The lettering is hard to read, but the folliwng has been distinguished: The initial cross is fig. 18 in North (1991, p. 26). EDWARD ANG hYB with a pellet at the end. There is a facing bust with a bifoliate crown.
