A complete zinc alloy modern copy of a Roman Denarius of Augustus as Emperor (27 BC - 14 AD), possibly CAESARI AVGVSTO reverse type, depicting Quadriga right, ornamental panel surmounted by four miniature galloping horses, dating to the period BC 19 - BC 18 (Reece Period: 1). Mint: Rome, probably. Diameter: 20.7 mm Thickness: 3.1 mm Weight: 3.4 g XRF Analysis was carried out on this probable denarius on 14th May 2015 at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, and that determined that it had a composition of 93-95% zinc with around 5-6% copper. Roman silver denarius of Augustus, with reverse showing his grandson's Gaius and Lucius. Struck at the mint of Lugdunum (Lyons) between 7 BC and AD 14. (diameter: 19.2mm; thickness: 1.3mm; weight: 3.66g). The obverse is worn but still has a clear inscription. There are scratches showing deliberate marking, but the reason for this is unknown.
