A knapped flint blade with retouch. Length 41.4mm; width: 27.1mm; thickness: 9.5mm; mass: 8.2g. The blade is broken at the distal end. The blade is partly coritical and dark grey and off white in colour. On the ventral face there is a bulb of percussion at the proximal end, with a small bulbar scar and ripples of the concoidal fracture running down the face. On the dorsal side there are multiple scars, and on one edge there is some invasive, retouch and a notch. It is unclear if the notch is an original feature or whether it represents damage. There are also some scars between t…

A knapped flint flake. Length 29.1mm; width: 18.5mm; thickness: 5.9mm; mass: 2.9g. The blade is non-cortical and grey in colour. The blade has convex sides which run from a narrow proximal end to the wider broken base at the distal end. On the ventral face of the scarred (?retouch) narrow proximal end there is a bulb of percussion, with pronounced ripples of the concoidal fracture below this. One edge of the blade has some small scars on both dorsal and ventral faces, creating a mildly serrated edge. The other edge is a scarred ridge with a slight notch in it. The blade is likely to b…

A tiny flint artefact, probably a microlith. The tool may have been formed from a snapped bladelet using the microburin technique. It is likely that this flint would have been one part of a composite tool or weapon which utilised many other small flints, quite possibly an arrow. The flint is grey to white in colour. It measures 13.59 mm long, 2.88 mm wide, 1.3 mm thick and weighs 0.1 grams. It is triangular in section.

A flint flake, apparently retouched to form a scraper. Cortex remains on one face. There appears to be a small amount of pressure flaking at the distal end to form a scraping edge. The flint measures 46.23 mm long, 24.14 mm wide, 17.17 mm thick and weighs 13.9 grams. The flint is a cream to grey/brown colour with a small area of pink cortex remaining. Other Mesolithic material from the area suggests this flint may also of this date.

The butt of the flake is cortical. The flint measures 40.21 mm long, 26.94 mm wide, 12.3 mm thick and weighs 10.5 grams. The flint is grey in colour.

A flint scraper or knife, probably Mesolithic in date. Cortex has been left on part of the flake, probably to facilitate comfortable handling of the tool. The flint is 'boomerang' shaped, and there is some retouch along the inwardly curving edge. The tool was probably intended to be held with the thumb held over the concaved ventral face allowing the tool to be used comfortably as a scraper or knife. The flint is a pale cream in colour, with grey patches and some pink/grey cortex. It measures 38.48 mm long, 19.76 mm wide, 9.62 mm thick and weighs 3.8 grams.

A probable flint scraper or knife, most likely to be Mesolithic in date. Cortex has been left on part of the flake, probably to facilitate comfortable handling. Just above the cortex. the flake has been worked to remove a thumb shaped notch, once again, probably to make it more comfortable to hold. On the opposite edge a series of notches have been removed by pressure flaking from the ventral surface. This edge is sharp and may have served as a knife or a notched tool, possibly for stripping bark from wood. The flint is pale cream to grey in colour, with brown patches and some pink c…

A flint flake, probably Mesolithic in date. The flake does not appear to have been deliberately retouched along either lateral edge. There may be retouch at the distal end, although it is possible that this occurred whilst the flake was still attached to the core. The flake is slightly cortical at the proximal end. The flint used is a pale cream colour with small brown inclusions. It measures 44.07 mm long, 15 mm wide, 7.61 mm thick and weighs 4.9 grams.

A probable Mesolithic flint blade, with retouch in the form of notches on the left lateral edge (when held with the dorsal side facing). These notches may have been used for stripping bark during the creation of arrow shafts, although they could equally have had many other functions. Some cortex remains on the edges of the flint. The flint has a pale cream patina with grey/brown inclusions. It measures 41.35 mm long, 18.44 mm wide, 4.46 mm thick and weighs 3.9 grams. It is trapezoidal in section.

A Mesolithic flint flake. The flake may have some retouch at the proximal end, although it is also possible that this is associated with prepration of the striking platform on the core prior to the knapping of the flake. There appears not to be any further evidence for retouch. The flint has a cream patina. It is sub-triangular in section and measures 19.91 mm long, 6.78 mm wide, 1.77 mm thick and weighs 0.2 grams.
