Stylised horse head. Overall shape is cylindrical, becoming more flat at the end which is not part of the design and which was the fitting element. Where the design finishes the object is flatter and divides into two sheets. These appear to be broken. The horse mouth points at the opposite end of the fitting. The mouth has what appears to be an egg in it. Dark green patina. Possibly Romano-British

The item is in the form of a figure of eight. Where the junction to the figure of eight occurs there is a single knop on the outer faces. There isalso a knop sitting on an 'S' shape in the centre of each void of the figure of eight. All four knops are bulbous and were not cast as part of the harness. They were cast separately and then mount through a hole in the figure of eight form. There are small knops decorating the outer edge of the item as well. This 'S' shape appears to be a horn. The item is broken into three pieces, the breaks appear to be due to plough damage.…
