An irregular fragment of copper alloy casting waste, of uncertain dating, but possibly Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval (1400 - 1800 AD). The casting waste fragment consists of a sub rectangular sheet, with uneven, almost bubbly surfaces. It is sub rectangular in cross section. Two edges are smooth and unabraded, indicative of a fairly recent break. It is a mid grey colour, with a couple of areas which display a distinctive shiny sheer to it. This shiny sheer is suggestive that the copper alloy has a high tin content. The weight of the fragment is suggestive that lead …

A sub circular silvered copper alloy object, of possible Roman dating (1 to 410 AD). It is sub circular in plan, and D shaped in section. The top surface is smooth and domed, with a couple of uneven projections. The lower surface is flat. It measures 20.45mm in length, 21.34mm wide and 6.27mm thick. It weighs 13.1grams. The object could be a piece of casting waste, but there are traces of silvering on a couple of areas on both surfaces. The patina is similar to that found on early Roman coins, but this object is too thick to be a coin.

Treasure Case 2012 T338: Gold Droplet from Brailes, Warwickshire. Casting waste, comprising a complete amorphous droplet of gold or gold alloy. The droplet measures 14.77mm long, 8.37mm wide and 6.71mm thick, weighing 5.1g. Iron Age coins have been recovered from the same farm (Treasure Case 2012 T726), and it has been suggested that gold such as this may have been connected with Iron Age gold working, such as coin production or recycling. However, a similar piece (2004 T408) was determined to be undiagnostic and undatable following metal analysis.

Two fragments of a ceramic crucible. The fabric is a white ware with no obvious inclusions and is highly fired, but is still able to be scratched. The exterior appears to have fine linear grooves which may be decoration or part of the manufacturing process. On the interior of each sherd there is traces of a copper alloy adhered to it. The copper alloy has traces of red copper corrosion and has a 'bubbled' surface. The two sherds together weigh 5.5g. The date of the sherds are uncertain, but probably date to the Medieval or Post Medieval period.
