A flint probable thumb-nail scraper of probable Mesolithic date, 10000 - 4000 BC. It is an oval secondary thick flake of grey flint. The dorsal face is covered with rough removals, and half the edge has abrupt, sub-parallel, wide retouch or removals. There is cortex on the rest of the side. The ventral face is unworked and the bulb of percussion does not survive. The object appears to be a basic thumb nail scraper, which Leahy (2014) suggests are fairly common in the Mesolithic, but it could also be a completely worn out cylindrical core producing narrow blades. It is crescent shaped and the curved side has multiple blade scars. It is triangular in cross-section and the ventral face has wide curved convex ripples from the distal end of the original object.
