An incomplete copper-alloy Roman coin, probably an as or dupondius and perhaps a cast contemporary copy (limesfalsum) of Nero (AD 54-68), dating to the period c.AD 54-68 (Reece period 3). Unclear reverse type. Unclear mint. Measurements: Diameter: 23.28mm: thickness: 2.17mm; weight: 2.85g The coin is missing the upper outer edge of the flan. It is unusual in that the break runs around the outline of the top of the bust of the emperor, perhaps the result of deliberate modification (piercing?) in antiquity or post-depositional damage.
