A complete medieval cast copper alloy single loop buckle (Meols type 8); with intact plate dating between AD 1230-1400. The object consists of the buckle and attached plate. The buckle is oval in plan with a D-shaped cross section and the strap bar is narrowed and offset. A complete copper alloy Roman radiate coin, possibly a late style or contemporary copy of a radiate struck by Carausius (AD 286-93) at the 'Rouen' mint, c. AD 286-7 (Reece Period 14), [ ]S [ ], possibly Salus standing left holding baton and cornucopiae.  This is a very tentative identification, but the coin can be compared to a piece, found at Silchester, in the forthcoming RIC volume by Sam Moorhead - no. 345. Measurements: diameter 17.71mm, weight 2.09g.
