Two lead pot mends of possible Roman date (c. AD 43 - 410) although a later date cannot be ruled out. The pot mends consists of two irregularly shaped flat pieces of lead joined by a central plug between them which would have filled the hole in the original vessel. One has quite a large flat piece relative to the size of the plug, the other has only slightly expanded outer and inner plates. The first has ridges on one plate, possibly caused by cloth or another substance pushed against the inner side of the pot to cast against. The second has concentric cooling lines. There are s…

One body sherd of translucent pale blue glass, probably Roman in date. The piece seems to be from a large cylindrical vessel but the amount surviving and irregularity of the curve makes it hard to estimate the original diameter. Some shallow chips on the outer side, breaks aorund all edges and some laminar corrosion. The piece is 48.3mm by 47.9mm, 4.0mm thick and weighs 12.67 grams.

Two pieces of burnt clay of total weight 21.02 grams, possibly from an oven or a kiln or less likely burnt daub or cob of uncertain date. One piece is amorphous while one is more clearly shaped into a curved structure. Both have only a few voids from organic inclusions and no imprints as one sees on daub. Very occasional small iron stone and limestone inclusions which almost certainly reflect natural inclusons in the clay rather than temper. Sparse medium sand inclusions, again probably accidental inclusions. The pieces are relatively high fired but very worn on all faces. The shape…

The fabric is coarse grained with an abundant sand temper, sub-rounded quartz and occasional rounded patinated chert and iron stone. Both sherds have reduced cores but the remaining surfaces are oxidised a reddish brown. Weight 6.01g.
