Large and heavy Roman gold finger ring of ‘keeled’ type with a wide openwork hoop and large ovoid bezel set with a dark blue/light grey oval nicolo intaglio. The lower part of the hoop is composed of a pair of six-sided polygons, each with a central rib and openwork panels on each side that slope downwards from the rib. A Roman copper-alloy Large south-western T-shaped brooch of Hull T138 dating to the late first to second century AD, incomplete as the pin is missing and there is a worn break about two thirds of the way down the bow. The head has two short cylindrical wings, 13.96mm wide, to hold the axis bar for the hinged pin. A lead pig with probable engraved gaming board of possible Roman date, c. 43 - 400 AD. The object has been engraved on one side with what appears to be a possible gaming board, with irregular squares roughly 1cm square. Grid gaming boards in the Roman period varied in quality, with some examples carefully executed while others were irregular. Grid boards are traditionally associated with the game known as ludus latrunculorum (Schädler 1994).
