Six sherds of samian ware pottery of early Roman date. Three are body sherds and three are rim sherds. Two of the rim sherds have external beads and one is plain. All the sherds are oxidised throughout with shiny brownish-orange slips. The fabric contains moderate very small limestone pieces and occasional voids, so the vessels were probably produced at one of the South Gaulish kilns. Total weight: 44g

A cast copper alloy stud of probable sixteenth century date. The one-piece stud measures 21.3mm by 20.5mm by 2.4mm and weighs 3.4g. The terminals are in the form of fleurs-de-lis and in the centre is a flower. The back is flat and the front is convex. The stud has a square cross section and has been bent sideways. There are faint traces of silvering or tinning on the front of the stud. A broadly similar stud can be seen in Read's History Beneath our Feet (1995, pp. 115-6, no. 742).

An incomplete cast copper alloy strap fitting of probable late fifteenth to sixteenth century date. The fitting measures 28.8mm by 13.7mm by 2.3mm and weighs 3.9g. It consists of a sub-rectangular plate with a shallow pointed identation at the wider end. The other end is broken, but it would have terminated in a backwards curving hook, which would have held a cast copper alloy ring. The front of the brooch is divided into two recessed sections: a central oval and an outer border. There are traces of red enamel in the border. The central recess is empty. Three rim sherds of grey ware pottery of Roman date. They are likely to be of local manufacture. One sherd has a reduced mid to light grey fabric with moderate fine sand temper and sparse mica and grog, the second has a reduced light grey fabric with sparse fine sand, rounded quartz and occasional other inclusions and the third has a reduced mid grey fabrics with mixed temper including moderate sand, sparse quartz, grog, iron oxide and other stone pieces. The sherds probably formed part of small jars or bowls. Total weight: 23g

An undecorated body sherd of hand made south-western black burnished pottery of first to third century AD date. The fabric is reduced with very mild oxidation on the external surface and a slight 'sandwich' effect visible in the section. It contains moderate fine sand, mica and rounded quartz (up to 1mm). Dimensions: 33.8mm by 32.3mm by 6.5mm Weight: 7g

A possible piece of ceramic kiln furniture of unknown date. The fabric is an oxidised mid-orange with a slightly less oxidised buff-coloured core and patchily reduced mid-grey surfaces. Ten sherds of hand made south-east Dorset black burnished 1 pottery of Roman date. The sample comprises two base sherds, three rim sherds and five body sherds. Two of the rim sherds are from shallow ("dog") dishes and the other is from an everted rimmed jar. The fabric is a reduced dark grey with mild light grey/buff oxidation on some surfaces. It contains common rounded white quartz sand. Total weight: 97g
