Four sherds of abraded wheel made New Forest slipped ware pottery dating from c. 260-370. Three of the sherds have a reduced grey core and a purplish-black slip. These are all body sherds. The largest sherd appears to be from a beaker and it has a small white painted decoration consisting of five short lines. The other sherd is a rim sherd from a bowl with a small external bead. It has a creamy white reduced fabric and a dark grey slip. A small area of decoration is present at the lowest point of the sherd. An abraded rim sherd from a mortarium of probable late Roman date. The sherd includes one half of the spout. The fabric is an oxidised pinkish-orange with a slightly more reduced buff-coloured core. The earthenware fabric is fairly hard fired and largely oxidised with small area of reduction in the centre of part of the sherd. A cast copper alloy finger ring of late medieval or post-medieval date. The slightly distorted hoop measures 19mm in diameter, it is 4.7mm wide and 0.9mm thick. It weighs 1.4g. The hoop has a rectangular cross-section and its width and thickness are consistent all the way round. On the exterior of the hoop there is a stamped pattern formed from diamonds with in-curved sides and a floral motif in the centre, alternating with groups of three transverse linears. The incomplete carved bone handle and part of the wrought iron blade of a knife of probable early post-medieval date. The surviving portion measures 106mm by 18.1mm by 11.1mm and weighs 25.3g. A short length of the narrow tapering blade survives. The handle is rivetted onto the tang using three iron rivets. It is made from two matching bone panels, both of which have been carved to define three sections. An incomplete quarter angel (two shillings and six pence) coin weight issued during the reign of of Elizabeth I. The coin weight is rectangular (10.2mm by 9.2mm by 1.6mm) and appears to have been deliberately clipped. Its current weight is 0.88g but it would originally have weighed 1.3g. On the obverse there is a faint crown above 'IIs', Below this, VId is too worn to make out. On the reverse there is an angel. A cast copper alloy hooked tag of early post-medieval date. The hooked tag measures 22.6mm by 18mm by 3.9mm and weighs 2g. It comprises a heart-shaped back plate with a frilled edge, an incomplete domed front and the stub of a hook at the pointed end of the plate. On the back of the plate are two stubs which are all that remain of the attachment loop. Adjacent to the stub of the hook, the dome is decorated with a three-petalled flower, but the rest of the decoration cannot be discerned due to the damage to the domed part. A flint thumbnail scraper of probable early Bronze Age date. The scraper has been made froma tertiary flake. At the proximal end on the ventral surface is a bulb of percussion and a marked bulbar scar. Ripples radiate down the ventral surface. On the dorsal surface there are a number of flaking scars and the distal end has been abruptly retouched. The mid to dark grey flint has a mid-gloss patina. A fragment of a cast copper alloy socketed axehead or socketed chisel of late Bronze Age date. The fragment measures 32.3mm by 32.9mm by 8.6mm and weighs 12.8g. It comprises the straight cutting edge and a short length of the tapering axehead. One side survives more intact than the other. The socket reaches almost to the cutting edge. In the centre of each side there is a longitudinal casting seam.
