Two fragments of rim sherd of West Somerset type pottery, dating to the 16th - 17th century. Possibly from a bowl, the fabric has sandstone inlusions, a thumbed applied strip under the rim, and an internal glaze, with an external green glaze just about visible. A nearby production site for Medieval and Post Medieval West Somerset ware exisited at Nether Stowey, and was operational between 1250 - 1700. A fragment of body sherd of South Somerset type red earthenware, probably dating to the 16th century. Vessel type unclear, forms from DPT 6 include globular and baluster jugs, cisterns etc (Coleman-Smith and Pearson, 1988, pg 104). The fabric is hard with sparse iron oxide grit inclusions. The sherd has a two parallel grooved lines each measuring 1mm in width visible at the top edge of the sherd, although the upper groove is obscured by the worn break. There is an external green glaze, while the internal side of the sherd has 6 - 7mm parallel groves.  It measures 53mm…

A fragment of rim sherd of South Somerset type red earthenware, vessel type unclear but similar in profile to a pancheon or pan of 16th century date excavated at Donyatt, seen in Coleman-Smith and Pearson (1988) pg 232 fig 118. 12/9.  The sherd has a thumbed applied strip under the rim, the example seen on this sherd measures 14.5mm long by 5.5mm wide, and an internal and external green glaze is just about visible.  The sherd is well abraded. It measures 39.8mm long, 34mm wide, 5mm thick and weighs 12.71 grams.

A sherd of pottery of possible early to mid Bronze Age date. The body sherd is quite well-fired with a poorly sorted coarse-grained fabric including moderate shell fragments. The fabric is a reduced dark grey/black externally and an oxidised buff internally. The external surface is also partly oxidised. There is no decoration visible on the external side but the internal side has a 10mm wide linear depression, 6mm below top edge of the sherd. Dimensions: 44mm by 37.5mm by 9.5mm. Weight: 18.38g

Body sherd from a Nene Valley ware of unknown vessel type dating to the 2nd to 4th century (c. 150 - 400 AD). The small fragment has a orange/yellow core, with abundant very fine quartz sand grain inclusions. Both the topside and the underside are coated in a dark brown/black slip, which is slighlty abraded on the topside. The breaks are neither particularly fresh nor particularly worn. The sherd measures 28.5mm long by 30mm wide, is 3.1mm thick and weighs 4.25g.

A fragment of decorative ceramic floor tile dating to the medieval period, c. AD 1200-1450. The tile fragment is bi-chrome and inlaid with a white clay depicting the edge of a design that possibly features an animal (a leg and tail survive), surrounded by a plain double line border with a thicker line at the bottom. There is one bevelled edge (the other edges are broken).  Length (unbroken edge): 69.77mm, width: 61.29mm, thickness: 23.41mm, weight: 107.59g.
