The piece has an unclear, possibly nonsense legend on the obverse with the figure of a standing archer. The reverse has a cross fleuretty and an unclear legend with the date 1566. The general style seems similar to 16th century jettons of Nuremburg and to some low denomination coins of the Low Counties and adjacent terrirories but it is not currently possible to identify it from the books to hand.

Mitchiner (ibid. p.364), writes 'the anonymous stock jetons of the 'Lion of Saint Mark' series would thus appear to extend from cira 1500 down to the time of Hans Schultes I. Insofar as the issues of Damianus Krauwinckel (d. 1581) are stylistically later than both the anonymous issues and those of Hans Schultes I (d. 1584) one should probably date the end of the anonymous stock issues to the years around 1570'.

The cross is also mostly within an inner circle rather than the usual quartelobe, this feature sugegsts it is of the very late French issues or another contemporary issuer (cf Mitchiner 1988:192).…
