A flint side and end scraper of probable Neolithic to early Bronze Age date. The scraper measures 26.6mm by 26.3mm by 8.9mm and weighs 5.8g. It is fresh and complete and has been made from a secondary flake (30% nodule cortex). Part of the distal end and one lateral side have been retouched. The retouch is fairly long and semi-abrupt.

A large primary flake with secondary working producing a rough core. Off white patination to the ventral surface. Mid grey-brown low gloss patination to the reworked dorsal surface. A patch of pebble cortex remains on the dorsal surface. Bulb of percussion remains but the platform has been removed by damage. Hard hammer flake. The dorsal surface has been worked by flaking from the edges of the ventral surface. Irregular flaking scars. Neolithic/Bronze Age (probably).

Three flint waste flakes, found close together. All likely to be of Neolithic to Bronze Age date. 1. Secondary waste flake with no signs of retouch. The edges remains sharp, with a small amount of plough damage. Cortex covers the majority of the dorsal face. The flint is mottled grey in colour with a high gloss patina. Length: 38.5mm, Width: 25.9mm, Thickness: 9.8mm Weight: 8.2g 2. Tertiary flint waste flake with no obvious sign of retouch. The edges remain relatively sharp. The flake is dark grey-brown in colour with a lighter patch on the left hand side. Length: 41.2mm…

Worked flint side scraper, made from a secondary flake. The dorsal face has a central ridge running its length. To the right of this, the majority of the dorsal face is corticated. To the left is a long flaking scar, with two smaller ones at the promimal end. The left edge of the dorsal face has short semi-abrupt retouch. The ventral face is slightly convex. The flint is dark brown-grey with a light-grey patch on the ventral face at the bulb of purcussion. The object is probably of Neolithic to Bronze Age date. A flint awl or piercer of probable Neolithic date. The proximal end is unworked and retains the outer, rounded pebble cortex. Above this on the dorsal face are three long, thin, parallel flaking scars. The distal end has then been worked to a point by retouching both edges from around the mid-point onwards. The object therefore has a rounded butt with a long, thin piercer extending from this, curving downwards slightly and tapering a little towards the end. The tip is blunt and this probably the result of damage following deposition. The flint is dark grey-brown in colour, growing ligh…

A flint end scraper of probable Neolithic date. The scraper has been made from a tertiary flake (no cortex remaining) of mixed opaque cream to transparent light grey. The area of recortication on the dorsal surface indicates that the flint was not freshly mined when it was worked. The pronouced bulb of percussion and bulbar scar on the ventral surface suggest the use of a hard hammer. The dorsal surface of the distal end has been retouched. The retouch is short and abrupt. The scraper measures 76mm by 45.5mm by 14mm and weighs 50.8g.

Broken segment of a larger tool, probably a side and end scraper of Neolithic date, c.4000-2000 BC. It was formed on a large blade of dark grey tanslucent flint. The proximal end and the right edge (seen from the ventral face with proximal end downwards) is entirely missing to a long break. Impact scars on the ventral in the middle of this break may suggest it was deliberate or may be the result of post deposition impact, sone removals from it on the dorsal face may be accidental damage. There is extensive retouch on both faces along the remaining side to give a straigh edge. Semi abr…

An assemblage of three side scrapers probably dating from the the Neolithic to Early Bronze Age. Scraper 1 has been struck off a secondary flake and retains some thin mottled brown pebble cortex on its dorsal surface. The flint is a variable mottled grey/brown colour colour with a dark grey band, off white inclusions and lighter patches. It has a semi-glossy patina. The scraper is sub-rectangular in plan with the left and right edges being curved and the proximal and distal edges being on angles. The right edge, as seen when looking at the dorsal face has very short parallel, semi …

It is triangular in section with a central ridge on the dorsal face becoming thicker at the proximal end. On the dorsal face are regular parallel aris left by similar blade removals from the same platform. There is retouch is around the distal end. The retouch is short, semi-parallel and semi-abrupt. Flint blade, probably dating to the Mesolithic. The blade is long and thin. It has three flaking scars on the dorsal face. Both ends have been snapped leaving them blunt. There is a small notch missing on the right edge of the ventral face at the proximal end. Whether this was produced deliberately or is later damage is unclear. The flint is light milky brown in colour. Length: 33.36mm, Width: 12.17mm, Thickness: 4.70mm Weight: 2.37g

Distal section of a tertiary flint blade, probably of Mesolithic date, c. 8300 to 3500 BC. The proximal end and the bulb of percussion are missing. The break is irregular with a hinge fracture and irregular breaks on the back; there are possible evidence of retouch on the front but it may be damage rather than deliberate breaking. There is a second retouched notch however about half the way down where the flint changes from translucent grey to opaque buff-grey. This notch is formed by short semi-parallel shallow to abrupt retouch and suggests the piece was being reworked to from micro…

Sevon incomplete flakes prehistoric flint debitage. The flakes represent a number of flint sources, and are a mix of tertiary and secondary flakes, although where it survives the area still covered by cortex is invariably small. The proximal end survives on three flakes, these all have relatively diffuse bulbs of percussion, only one exhibiting a bulbar scar and with one exhibtiign a slight 'lip' at the platform, suggesting the use of a soft hammer. One flake exhibits platform preparation, and clear evidence of multiple striking platforms. The flakes exhibit a mixture of sub-parallel …

Knapped flint end scraper made on a secondary flake. It is broadly oval in plan (rounded). There is a prominent bulb of percusison on the ventral face with bulb scars, and the flake has been removed from a prepared platform a section of which remains at the proximal end. It is triangular in section with an aris running down the centre of the dorsal face ending in a patch of cortex at the distal end covering c. 5% of the face. The scars on the dorsal face suggest previous parallel removals form the same platform. The retouch extends around the distal end and two thirds of the way do…
